Three Houston Astros players set for Disney World parade

Three members of the World Series champion Houston Astros baseball team will be in a parade down Main Street U.S.A. at Magic Kingdom theme park on Saturday afternoon, Walt Disney World has announced.

On hand for the 12:45 p.m. parade will be series MVP George Springer, Jose Altuve and Carlos Correa. Shortstop Correa is the Houston player who proposed to his girlfriend after the decisive Game 7 on Wednesday night. (Daniella Rodriguez said “Yes.”)

The Astros defeated the Dodgers 5-1 in Los Angeles to win the first title in the franchise’s 56-year history. Springer had a two-run homer in the final game; it was his fifth of the series, tying a record. Altuve had three-run homer in Game 5, a memorable 13-12 win for Houston.

Disney has a habit of honoring sports heroes. Aside from the whole “I’m going to Disney World” campaign, the Boston Red Sox and the Chicago Cubs marked their on-field achievements Disney World parades in 2004 and 2016, respectively.

Cubs players who were here for the Disney World parade last year were Addison Russell, Javier Baez and Ben Zobrist, who was named most valuable player.

Theme park visitors will be able to watch the parade, but admission to Magic Kingdom is required.
