LAKE BUENA VISTA, FL., June 22, 2012— Pixie dust and fantasy make a visit to Walt Disney World Resort, magical. But recently a group of engineers, scientists and astrophysicists saw the magic in a different light during a special “Science Behind the Magic” presentation at Disney’s Contemporary Resort.
Their eye-opening visit was part of NASA’s 25th annual International Space University Special Space Studies Program, which prepares post-graduate science and engineering students for careers in aeronautics. The nine-week program, sponsored by NASA, exposes professionals in aerospace, aeronautical, and other related fields to an intensive, unique educational experience.
Hosted by The Walt Disney World Resort and led by Michael Tschanz, Manager of Simulation and Analysis of the Engineering division, the one-day workshop attended by 175 participants illustrated the complex mathematical and physical models of ride systems, transportation systems, Audio-Animatronics and other technological innovations at the company. In addition to their behind-the-scenes view, the group also spent the afternoon at Epcot.
