This is it, gang! We are less than 24 hours away from the Grand Reopening of Disney California Adventure park. The momentum is exhilarating! So what’s the first thing you’re going to do when you enter the gates? Check out Buena Vista Street? Hop on the Red Car Trolley? Head straight for Cars Land? If you ask me, it’s time to shop ‘til you drop!
Here are a few tips on things you shouldn’t miss and places you must visit.
Charming and quaint, Buena Vista Street is a true treasure, and a trove at that. Elias & Co. is home to the Red Car Trolley and “Storytellers” merchandise I showed you just a few weeks ago. If you’re looking to take a step back in time, this is the place to do it.
Just across the tracks is Trolley Treats, with must-sees including Rock Candy Mountain and the team of Candy Makers hard at work creating hand-pulled taffy and gourmet marshmallows.
And around the corner at the Disney Animation Building is where all of the limited-edition and commemorative merchandise will be, so if you “have to have it,” then make this the one place you have to go.
Special Tip for June 15 – For guests interested in purchasing limited edition and commemorative merchandise, the queue will open at 11 p.m. on June 14 on Disneyland Resort property.
Now, shifting gears a little bit, let’s head down the street into Cars Land. Your first pit stop, of course, should be Radiator Springs Curios, where you’ll find pins, Vinylmation and other novelties. But if cruising around is more your speed, get the right style at Ramone’s House of Body Art, whose Champions Custom Speed Shop and Low ‘n Slow collections will knock your socks off.
Looking for something with a little bit more “flare” for the kids? Then get in on the action at Sarge’s Surplus Hut. Sarge runs a tight ship, but he has everything you need themed to some of the main attractions in this revving new town. I can guarantee, he’s not “toying” with you.
