I was soaking wet, getting drenched by the front line of Hurricane Matthew, looking for some refuge where I could dry off and take a break. I ran down the pathway which use to lead to Camp Minnie-Mickey but is now boarded up due to construction of the new Pandora area of Animal Kingdom.
I ran past Tiffins and into a pagoda like building which had a sign hanging outside that said "Nomad Lounge". As I walked through the door, I was taken aback by the wonderful atmosphere of this place. There was light, relaxing, African-fusion music playing and a handful of people lounging on the sofas and chairs. The bar was empty, so my co-worker and myself plopped down to dry off and grab a refreshment.
The main bartender was training a new castmember who was "earning her ears". Both were very talkative and interested in how we would be hunkering down for the impending hurricane. As we talked, we tried out many of the great mixed drinks and imported beers that the Nomad Lounge offers.
I'm not normally one to take it slow while at Disney, but this was one time that I'm glad that I did. Nomad Lounge is a wonderful refuge from the madness that is Disney, and while it was basically empty, I'm sure that it will become well know once Pandora opens. Enjoy the serenity while you can.
Below are some of the refreshments that are offered.
