Red face Rainy Day Character Cavalcade

For a few years the Magic Kingdom has had it's own rain parade. All of your favorite Disney characters ride along the parade route in Main Street, U.S.A. vehicles and are escorted by dancers in their rain gear. The Rainy Day Character Cavalcade even has it's own soundtrack.

Here's a video:

It looks like a lot of fun! And I feel like a lot of people have no idea there is a rain parade in the case of inclement weather. Brave the rain and sing and dance along with your Disney friends! It isn't necessarily "urgent" news but it was news to me and is news to a lot of others when they find out!

For all the years I have been going to Disney this is the first I've heard or seen about this. What are the conditions that this parade will take place? I imagine its when there is alot of rain during the day and not the normal 30 min Florida rain? Anyone have any more information?

I've never heard of it before. Leave it to Disney to make the most of something that goes wrong, and take that extra step to give their Guests a great time! - MP

Great find! I'm surprised in all my Disney research I have never heard of this! And I thought I knew all the surprises and tid bits WDW had to offer. Nope! Guess you learn something knew everyday! I wonder how bad the weather actually has to be for this or what makes them decide to do this exactly that it barely happens, cause rain occurs pretty much every day in WDW.

Wow! That's cool. I've never seen this before and it surprises me because we always travel during hurricane season. I've seen more rain at WDW than I have sun.

Is this something that just started happening, or is it for parades where they don't have any alternates to floats/characters who can't get wet? For some reason, it feels like an alternative to an older parade, but I can't place it. Never knew of it, never seen it myself, and I'm like Belle - I seem to catch the rainy season when I go...

Even when I was a CM for a year, I never saw this. Pretty cute and neat little idea. I have had my share of floats suddenly hitting the gas to get out of the rain, I will say that. I always was waiting for the music to speed up too.

After digging as much as possible, found out that this takes the place of the afternoon parade when it is too wet. Go to youtube and search for Disney parade in Hurricane wow horrible. I imagine after all the safety violations that have taken place at Disney that they are becoming extra safe now? I might be wrong with this but wasn't a Disney cast member seriously injured from falling from a float in the parade recently?
